R & D Construction was originally formed in 1986, dealing with all the elements of plant hire, civil engineering and building contracts. As a result of steady growth, in 1995 R & D Construction Limited was created. By allowing both companies to run in conjunction with each other they have both been able to focus on their individual areas.

R & D Construction specialises in the internal and external plant hire, owning and maintaining an extensive range of modern plant, which supports all aspects of construction.

R & D Construction Limited concentrates on civil engineering and building contracts, taking pride in producing high quality work, in a cost effective, safe and efficient manner.

Over the years it has proved to be a very successful collaboration, with an annual turn over of approximately £8 million to date, comprising of contracts ranging from £300 to £3.5 million. Our clients vary from private individuals to large developers and contractors, together with local councils and utility companies, for which we have undertaken of a wide range of projects, throughout East Anglia.

As an innovative and forward thinking company, R & D Construction Limited is dedicated to investing in both new technology and its workforce. We currently employ over 80 staff along with a number of specialist subcontractors.

By creating a training programme, to promote the on-going development and training of existing employees, we are constantly increasing the skills and knowledge base within the company. As a result we have seen numerous individuals’ progress over time through the company. In an attempt to address the skills shortage within the industry, we have also created apprentice posts both in manual and technical positions.

We feel our highly skilled, dedicated and reliable workforce can offer expertise in all disciplines of civil engineering, while maintaining the flexibility that is required by our clients.

We pride ourselves on producing high quality work with timely completions at competitive rates and therefore offering an excellent service delivery to our customers.

The Future

Both companies will continue to work in close partnership with each other as this has proven to be successful to date. The intention however, is to increase the companies portfolio of works and client base, while maintaining high quality, efficiency and an economic service.

We acknowledge the importance of being accountable and having good quality management systems in place and we are therefore currently working towards ‘ISO 9001’ accreditation. This is in conjunction with other initiatives such as ‘Investors in People’, and membership of the ‘CECA’.

To accommodate our current and planned future expansion, our intention is to relocate both companies to a purpose built head office and plant facility. This is a major project in itself and plans are already underway.
